Focus of the Final Paper

Select one of the peer-reviewed journal articles from the pre-selected studies found in the workbook for this class. Based on what you have learned about health research throughout the five weeks of this course, you will critically analyze the article. You will actively begin reviewing materials and working on the Final Paper in Weeks Two and Three. Instructor guidance and feedback will help guide you to critically analyze the research. Your full analysis will be due on the final day of class.

Writing the Final Paper

Review the article selections in the workbook for the final analysis. Please note that one of the selections contains two articles that connect all the measurements and outcomes to the study. Choose one of the Week Five Final Paper selections from the workbook. Your Final Paper will contain the following sections:

Introduction:• Provide an introduction to your paper addressing the point of your analysis.

Part I (The first draft of this portion will be completed in Week Two; the second draft is included in Week Three.):

• Describe the hypothesis and/or research question posed by your selected study. Specifically state what the
  researchers were trying to accomplish.
• Evaluate the methodology used to address the research question/hypothesis.
• Analyze whether this methodology was appropriate for addressing the question/hypothesis.
• Identify the ethical considerations discussed by the author(s). Evaluate whether the authors effectively addressed
  all of the ethical issues surrounding their research. Describe any missing elements that you believe should/could have been included.
  Part II:
• Describe the appropriateness of the sampling method used to obtain the study population. Explain whether or not
  a different method would have been more appropriate.
• Analyze the measurement method used to address the hypothesis/research question. Associate the measurement
  variables to the study outcomes. Explain whether a better measurement would or would not have been more applicable.
